We were overwhelmed with the response to the competition and had over 1000 entries ! Here is a message from Julie and Kersh with the long awaited shortlist.

ello everyone. It's been very very hard but I think we have our shortlist! Thank you so much to all of you who judged for us...you went above and beyond the call of duty in your warmth and generosity. I'm sending your comments to the schools.

In the end we had 1033 entries from 55 schools including 15 single entries.

The shortlist is as follows:

  • Kira Stones, Little Lever, Bolton (Ju) Megan Killen, Flixton Girls, Urmston (Kersh)
  • Georgina Clarke, Flixton Girls (kersh)

The standard, particularly in the younger category, was high, and we're sorry if some of your favourites didn't make it. If Kersh and Julie's choices seem to dominate (!) it's because we had all the single entries which tended to be stronger, and also because we ended up reading a disproportionate number because we got about half of the entries too late to send out to judge! We're really really chuffed with what we've ended up with though!

Thank you so much everyone. The response from the schools and the work they'd done with the young people was inspiring, and the whole point really. We couldn't have done it without you. Julie and Kersh xxxx
