Over 130 guests witnessed a glittering awards evening at St. Mary’s Chambers in Rawtenstall, to celebrate the development and achievement of young people in construction.

The awards, now in its third year, are an initiative held by The Construction Development Alliance (CDA). Founded as a voluntary group to support and recognise young construction talent throughout the North West, this year the CDA’s nominated charity was The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

Commenting on the charity, Reid Lewis of the CDA said “we were delighted to support the Foundation. We focus on rewarding young people on their career and social development and we deemed it fitting to partner a charity whose aim is as likeminded as ours.”

Throughout the awards evening, guests donations were collected for The Foundation and £695 was raised.

Kate Conboy-Greenwood, representing The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, said ‘such events show how generous people are and all we can say is a big thank you. The money received will be channelled into the work we undertake with young people in schools and colleges, as part of Sophie’s legacy, to create safer communities that celebrate difference”
