"Black Roses - The Killing of Sophie Lancaster" won two awards inThe Royal Television Society NW.

Our patron Julie Hesmondhalgh won "Best Performance in a Single Drama or Drama Series (Female) for her incredible portrayal of Sylvia and the film won "Best Single Drama or Drama Series

Sylvia dedicated her part of the award to "Our community in France who were slaughtered in the attack at Bataclan last night".

The audience took a deep intake of breath then applauded her dedication.

Those murdered at Bataclan and other areas in Paris were killed because they were enjoying their lifesyle and culture - live music and sport. This was hate on a massive scale and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation stand with the victims families. We know you will do so too.
