The second No2H8 Awards Ceremony took place in the Churchill Regency Hotel in London last night (10th October) and Sylvia and Kate were guests of the organisers as shortlisted nominees.

We were overwhelmed with the response as we were announced winners of “The Upstanding Organisation Award” by TV and Radio presenter Adrian Chiles.

The prestigious prize was “awarded to an organisation, which has made a significant impact on countering intolerance, hate and bigotry” according to No2Hate Awards website.

The standing ovation and applause in the packed room was a wonderful, emotional tribute to Sylvia’s promised legacy for Sophie through our work.no2h8 cert

“To receive this accolade in the 10th anniversary of Sophie’s death, from people who dedicate their professional lives to challenging hate, is validation of all the hard work we have been doing since 2007.” said Sylvia.

Sylvia was also runner up for the Jo Cox Memorial Award – a huge mark of respect in itself.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to be with so many dedicated advocates and practitioners, voluntary and professional from the field of hate crime education and victim support. The Home Secretary, Ms Amber Rudd, was due to speak at the event but was delayed in parliament. Government ministers and officials, including Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon and Baljit Ubhey, the Chief Crown Prosecutor.
