We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Lloyd’s Community Fund Award. We have been granted £5000 to use to further the work of the charity.

We were nominated by Rachel Price, the local branch manager in Haslingden, who had followed our work since the tragic death of Sophie in 2007.

Over the summer, our supporters were asked to vote for us by text or online through the Community Fund’s website. People also voted at events held during the Olympic Flame tour of the UK. Having received 48% of the vote in the region, we were announced as winners.

Sylvia Lancaster said “I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to vote for us. I’m proud to receive this award which will help us reach even more people.

Our supporters at Whitby Goth Weekend welcome the Lloyd's Community AwardThe funds will be used to help us challenge the often violent intolerance faced by people from alternative subcultures and for us to work towards safer communities that celebrate rather than fear “difference”.

We do this work in schools; colleges; youth clubs; young offenders’ institutes and prisons. We work with the Police to raise awareness of the extent of the issue.”
